Under Section 7 of the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA), all non-supervisory team members have the right to form a union or oppose forming a union.

Section 7 states that Associates have the right:

to self-organization,
to form, join or assist labor organizations,
to bargain collectively through representatives of their own choosing,
to engage in other concerted activities for the purpose of collective bargaining or other mutual aid or protection, and
to choose not to participate in any of these activities

Make sure that you know your rights when dealing with unions. Also know that you could lose many of your rights at work if you are represented by a union.

You have the right to ...

support or not to support a union
receive paychecks free from deductions for union dues and assessments
learn all of the facts about a union, including facts the union may not want you to know
ask questions of any manager
work in an environment where team members work together as a team and not as adversaries
not be bothered at home, at work, or by phone by union organizers. If you don't want a union, you can tell them to leave you alone
speak for yourself and to let your feelings be known to others
speak out against the union's attempt to organize your facility
ignore texts, emails, or phone calls from union organizers
protect your privacy (although the union may have a legal right to your private information even before they are voted in)
just say "NO" to union organizers:

"NO" to dues
"NO" to fines
"NO" to the possibility of a strike
"NO" to the risk of losing wages & benefits in negotiations

There is a value to the rights you have now — protect them.
